Cities throughout most of the state of Florida, including Orlando, experience several continuous months where the temperatures remain in excess of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. From May to October, when these high temperatures occur, they are accompanied by high humidity levels, which can make it feel even hotter. You can try turning your air conditioner down to a temperature that seems pleasant, but if there is too much moisture in the air, you’ll still feel sticky.

Beyond discomfort, high humidity can also cause problems with your health and home. In a home, sustained high humidity levels can create an environment where mold and bacteria thrive. If it remains untreated over a long period of time, mold can lead to costly home renovations and repairs, as well as serious health issues. To decrease the level of moisture in the home and provide humidity control, you should consider purchasing a whole-house dehumidification system.

Dehumidification systems for the whole house provide high-capacity moisture removal when compared to portable units. In addition, there is no water or collection bucket to empty, and these systems generally run more quietly than their portable counterparts. Their benefits include significantly high energy efficiency as well as improved indoor air quality in the home. Many homeowners believe that their existing air-conditioning system adequately dehumidifies their indoor air. Unfortunately this is not the case with many older air-conditioning systems. Also, during the months when your air conditioner is not being used, moisture is not being removed from the air in your home at all.
